Couple told wedding insurance 'invalid'
Posted On : Feb 10, 2012The importance of investing in wedding insurance before spending any money on a big day has been highlighted by the plight of one couple.
Andrew Francombe and Susan Crouch told the Bristol Evening Post how they were relieved they had taken out a policy after learning the company that owned their wedding venue had gone bust.
However, when the bride and groom-to-be put in a claim with E and L insurance, they were told the cover did not apply to payments made before the policy was taken out.
Ms Crouch commented: "I feel like we had just got over the trauma of the wedding company collapsing and then were met with this."
The pair had booked Chewton Place in Keynsham for their April 10th ceremony, but wedding company Aspire Venues went into administration in December leaving them to make alternative plans.
Closure of the hall was announced on December 19th and resulted in 19 full-time staff and 20 casual workers losing their jobs, the Bristol Evening Post reports.
